New court rules discussed

The Oakland County Bar Association presented “Discover(y) Changes in Michigan’s Court Rules” on Thursday, Sept. 5, at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills. In 2016, the State Bar of Michigan formed a subcommittee to take on the task of establishing new streamlined discovery rules. The Michigan Supreme Court adopted the rules earlier this year and they go into effect January 1, 2020. Subcommittee Chair and current OCBA President Daniel D. Quick (right) joined Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Shalina D. Kumar (center) and Subcomittee member Oakland County Circuit Court Judge James M. Alexander (left) for a deep-dive into the new rules and how they will affect the way attorneys conduct litigation in Michigan.
