Jonathan Brignall will serve as the first graduate fellow at The Kimble Center for Legal Drafting at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School.
Brignell, who will serve throughout 2020, has been working with Professor Emeritus Joseph Kimble on the Center's first document for use by the public, a power of attorney for health care.
Brignall, who will graduate in January, is editor in chief of the WMU-Cooley Law Review. Recently recognized by the State Bar of Michigan—Tax Section, with a Student Achievement Award and writing scholarship, he is also a recipient of WMU-Cooley’s Leadership Award.
Kimble, the Center’s senior director, is a prolific author on legal writing and an internationally recognized expert in plain legal language.
Besides its occasional seminars, the center aims to produce a select number of reader-friendly legal documents for public use.
Created in 2018 by WMU-Cooley to serve an educational and public service mission, The Kimble Center operates largely through donations. To contribute a tax-deductible donation contact the development office at WMU-Cooley Law School, 300 S. Capitol Ave., Lansing, MI 48933, or call 517-371-5140 ext. 2014.
