Secrest Wardle partner Broaddus named a Grand Rapids Magazine 2019 top lawyer

Drew W. Broaddus, a partner located in Secrest Wardle’s Grand Rapids office, has been named to Grand Rapids Magazine’s 2019 Top Lawyers list distributed in Grand Rapids Magazine and Grand Rapids Business Journal. Broaddus is recognized in the Insurance Law category. Research for the Top Lawyers list was created by PRS (Professional Research Services), based on an online peer-review survey sent to certified lawyers within the Grand Rapids area. Many votes were cast honoring excellence in the legal field. Inclusion in the list is based solely upon one’s standing within their peer group. Listings in Top Lawyers cannot be purchased.

For the last decade, Broaddus has devoted his practice to appellate advocacy.

Broaddus has a wealth of experience handling a variety of litigation and insurance-related matters. He serves as Chair of Secrest Wardle’s Appellate Practice Group and a Chair of the Insurance Coverage Practice Group. Broaddus joined the Firm having managed all aspects of defense litigation for over seven years. Since then, he has obtained excellent results in appeals dealing with a wide range of subjects.

Broaddus is a member of the Michigan State Bar’s Appellate Practice and Insurance and Indemnity Law Sections. In 2017 he was elected to the State Bar’s Appellate Practice Section Council. He was named to Super Lawyers Magazine’s list of Michigan Rising Stars from 2012 to 2017 and to its list of Michigan Super Lawyers from 2018 through the present in the Appellate category. He was also named to DBusiness Magazine’s list of Top Lawyers in 2017. Broaddus has also received an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

In November 2018, Broaddus began authoring the Insurance Coverage Report published in Michigan Defense Trial Counsel's (MDTC) Michigan Defense Quarterly. The Insurance Coverage Report is a quarterly summary of recent insurance coverage appellate decisions. Through his involvement in the Insurance and Indemnity Law Section of the State Bar, Broaddus published “Bad Faith: What It Is, and What It Is Not,” The Journal of Insurance & Indemnity Law, April 2017.
