Fraser Trebilcock is pleased to announce that The Honorable Peter D. Houk (Ret.) has been inducted into the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals for 2020. "I am extremely honored to have been inducted into this organization, and look forward to continuing my passion of practicing law," Houk says.
Houk has practiced law for 50 years. He was the City Attorney for Lansing, the Prosecuting Attorney for Ingham County, and Assistant Attorney General for the state of Michigan before being appointed to the bench in 1986. Since retiring from the bench, he has mediated hundreds of cases.
Houk has accrued many recognitions throughout his career, including being named twice by Lawyers Weekly as one of Michigan's most respected judges, being listed in Super Lawyers continuously since 2006, as well as Best Lawyers in America for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
He was an adjunct professor of Criminal Law at Thomas M. Cooley Law School for twenty years. He has been elected as a Fellow of the State Bar of Michigan, is on the American Arbitration Association list of approved mediators and arbitrators for construction and commercial matters, and is a Western District of Michigan Court Approved Mediator.
The National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (NADN) is an invitation-only professional association whose membership consists of mediators and arbitrators distinguished by their hands-on experience in the field of civil and commercial dispute resolution. With over 1,000 members throughout the United States as of 2019, the NADN is the most extensive public roster of experienced ADR attorneys available online.
