The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will host a public open house Thursday, March 19, to gather feedback on a new draft phase 2 general management plan for Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area in Oakland County.
The meeting will run 5 to 7 p.m. at the Oakland County Executive Office Conference Center, 2100 Pontiac Lake Road, in Waterford. People are welcome to attend at any time during the two-hour period to review different parts of the draft plan, offer comments and talk to DNR staff.

The phase 2 general management plan defines a long-range (10- to 20-year) planning and management strategy that will help the DNR protect and preserve the site's natural and cultural resources and provide access to land- and water-based public recreation and educational opportunities.
The 3,438-acre Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area provides outdoor activities compatible with the park's natural resources. The recreation area includes the headwaters of the Clinton, Huron and Shiawassee rivers and year-round recreational opportunities within its scenic interior. Camping, picnicking, swimming, hiking, biking, paddling, hunting, fishing and sightseeing are the most popular activities enjoyed by visitors.
