Michigan Governor Whitmer last Friday signed Executive Order 2020-122, which allows for statutes of limitations to be calculated normally, beginning June 20. The executive order coincides with Michigan Supreme Court Administrative Order No. 2020-18.
“As Michigan continues to flatten the curve and move forward together in the MI Safe Start plan, we can begin to reengage and lift certain orders,” Whitmer said. “It is still vital that we all remain committed to protecting ourselves and our fellow Michiganders from COVID-19. Although, it is no longer necessary to extend these deadlines, we still must work together to fight this virus and save lives.”
When Executive Order 2020-122 goes into effect, statutes of limitations will have been tolled for 102 days.
