The Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM) will present the webinar “Doing Our Best Work for Clients Under Less-Than-Great Circumstances: Remote Prep and Practice Tips for Courtroom Advocacy in 2020” on Tuesday, September 22, from 11 a.m. to noon via Zoom.
Speaking at the program will be Marla McCowan, MIDC director of Training, Outreach, and Support.
For several months everyone has been meeting the challenges of being at home and working remotely to ensure clients get the best representation possible. Many courts have continued to hold substantive hearings during the pandemic, and lately even some trials have resumed. But even if defense attorneys go to court periodically, their primary work and other obligations are being facilitated from home through a virtual connection. This situation will stay that way for several months to come.
During this one-hour presentation, attendees will learn how to brainstorm trial strategy with colleagues online, create checklists for court hearings if some/all participants are not in person, and basic tech tips for using zoom (and a few other helpful tools). There will also be a completely judgment-free Q & A zone for all of the new technology everyone is finding themselves forced to use.
This webinar is free to Michigan criminal defense attorneys and offers 1 annual CLE. To register, visit cdam.wildapricot.org and click on “events.”
