A new seminar series developed by the State Bar of Michigan’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee aims to raise awareness about aspects of the justice system that disproportionately affect certain groups.
“Barriers in the Profession,” the first program in the Critical Conversations series will be offered online Monday, February 22, beginning at noon. The inaugural program will examine obstacles—physical and otherwise—that people with disabilities face while navigating our legal system.
This one-hour discussion will feature a panel of experts and an open forum for participants. “Barriers in the Profession” is presented in collaboration with the Disabilities subcommittee of SBM’s Elder Law & Disability Rights Section and Legal Aid of Western Michigan.
To register for the program, visit www.michbar.org and click on “events.” Anyone with questions can reach out to Michelle Erskine at merskine@michbar.org.
