'Skills Training 101' offered for new criminal defense attorneys

The Oakland County Bar Association and the Criminal Defense Association of Michigan will present "Skills Training 101" for new criminal defense attorneys with 5 or less years' experience on Thursday and Friday, October 21-22, at the OCBA offices, 1760 South Telegraph Road, Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills.

In this hands-on small group training, a limited group of 16 attorneys will learn about arraignments, attorney-client relationships, probable cause, preliminary examinations, circuit court motions, and more. Attendees will accrue 16 skill training hours.

Cost for the training is $480 per person ($30 per CLE hour). Continental breakfast and lunch will be included. No one-day registrations are allowed. Due to class size restriction of 16, no walk-ins will be allowed. Check-in and networking begin at 8:30 a.m. Training takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

All attendees are asked to adhere to the OCBA Visitors Policy which requires all visitors to the OCBA office to wear a face mask at all times in the building except for when actively eating and drinking unless they meet one of the following exemptions: unable to medically tolerate a mask or children under the age of 2. All visitors will need to sign a visitor's log indicating they answered "no" to screening questions listed on the OCBA Visitor Policy, indicating date and times they visited the office, and provide a phone number or email address.
