The Workers’ Compensation Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan will host its Winter Meeting on Friday, December 10 from 8:15 a.m. to noon at the Crowne Plaza Lansing West, 925 S. Creyts Rd. in Lansing.
A hot breakfast will be provided during registration from 8:15 to 9 a.m. The General Business meeting will be conducted from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
Keynote speaker Dr. Michael Swords will discuss “Surgical treatment of complex foot and ankle orthopedic and traumatic orthopedic conditions” from 10 to 11 a.m. Swords is a Sparrow Hospital trauma program leader.
From 11:10 to 11:45 a.m. keynote speaker Katie Stanley will discuss “Mindfulness.” Stanley is an attorney and community engagement officer at Legal Services of Eastern Michigan. She primarily practices in fair housing civil rights enforcement and community education. She is also a Mindfulness Initiative advisory board member at the Crim Fitness Foundation, a Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute Fellow, a member of the State Bar of Michigan Lawyers and Judges Assistance Committee, and a regular contributor in the Practicing Wellness column of the Michigan State Bar Journal. Stanley is currently pursuing a doctorate with a dissertation focus on wellness in attorneys following mindfulness based interventions.
