Charles F. Clippert II
Attorney Charles F. Clippert II passed away Saturday, February 12.
Clippert graduated from University of Michigan in 1953 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy upon graduation. He served with the Pacific Fleet from 1953 to 1956. When he returned from service, he entered the University of Michigan Law School. He graduated in 1959 but skipped his graduation to marry the love of his life, Lynn.
Clippert practiced law at Dickinson Wright for more than four decades. He was known as both an excellent transactional attorney and litigator. Along with serving in many leadership roles at the firm, he was a mentor to many attorneys.
Besides his legal profession, Clippert was a dedicated public servant. He served on the Birmingham City Commission and as mayor of Birmingham. He sat as president of the Oakland County Bar Association (1990-1991) and on the boards at Cranbrook Educational Community, St. James Episcopal Church, and Habitat for Humanity in Florida.
Clippert was a proud fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines and spent many Saturday afternoons with family and friends on the 50-yard line at the Big House. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors.
There will be a memorial service at Trinity Episcopal Church, in Florida, on March 1 with a burial service in Michigan this summer. To leave a condolence message, visit Lowther Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Indian River Habitat for Humanity or the McLaren Thumb Region Foundation at 110 South Van Dyke, Bad Axe, MI 48413.
