The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan’s Violence Against Women Project will present the webinar “Jury Selection in Intimate Partner Violence/Domestic Violence Cases.” This free, experiential training will take place Thursday, May 26, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. for prosecutors and assistant prosecutors only.
Jury selection is a prosecutor’s first opportunity to connect with the jury, begin to lay the foundations for the arguments to make in closings, and preview any issues in trial. An effective voir dire can establish the tone of an entire trial. Voir dire in intimate partner trials including domestic violence and sexual assault have a unique set of issues that are not present in every case. This half day training will give participants the basics of picking a jury and will require full participation in picking a jury.
This training satisfies 4 hours of continuing legal education for purposes of PAAM’s Best Practices Recommendations.
