A memorial service for federal Judge Arthur J. Tarnow will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 10, at the University of Detroit Mercy McNichols Campus. The service will take place at the Fountain Lodge on campus, 4001 W. McNichols Road and Livernois, in Detroit.
U.S. District Court Judge Tarnow, who served on the bench for 24 years, died Jan. 21, 2022. Nominated for appointment by President Bill Clinton, Tarnow oversaw numerous high-profile cases for the Eastern District of Michigan. A 1965 Honors graduate of Wayne State University Law School, he previously worked for the Legal Aid and Defender Office in Detroit and was director of the State Appellate Defender’s Office.
Tarnow is survived by his wife, Jackie, sons Tom and Andrew, and two grandchildren.
