The Oakland County Bar Association's Circuit Court Committee will present "Changing Lanes: Understanding the Personal and Legal Implications of Michigan's New No-Fault Law" on Wednesday, September 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the OCBA offices, 1760 South Telegraph Road, Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills.
Michigan's no-fault insurance law took effect in July of 2020, but there are still questions to be answered about the effect the law is having on Michigan drivers. The purpose of this seminar is to describe the coverages available under the new act, how these changes impact the parties involved in an accident and the role of attorneys in litigation. The panel of insurance practitioners will begin with an explanation of the changes in the law, common terms, and a review of insurance options.
Topics of discussion will also include:
• The implications of current PIP Choices
• The intersection between PIP Benefits and Auto Negligence Recovery
• Sec. 3112 motions and distributions of limited PIP funds.
Speaking at the program will be Nicholas S. Andrews of Liss, Seder, & Andrews; Sarah E. Kuchon of Hohauser Kuchon; Nicholas Kyriakopoulos of NK Law Firm; and moderator Mark Kowalsky of Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer, & Weiss.
