The Youth Defense Project of the State Appellate Defender Office and Michigan Appellate Assigned Counsel System will present the webinar "Competency in Delinquencies" on Thursday, September 22, beginning at noon via Zoom.
Competency of youth in delinquencies is an area of frequent concern for defense attorneys. This webinar will feature a presentation by competency expert Dr. Carol Holden who will cover common issues regarding competency of youth.
Holden is a board-certified forensic psychologist who currently maintains an independent practice in forensic psychology and teaches forensic psychology at the University of Michigan. She worked for thirty years at the State of Michigan's Center for Forensic Psychiatry, where she ultimately served as the director. Over the course of her career, she has evaluated more than a thousand defendants in criminal court and many hundreds of juvenile defendants in juvenile court. She has provided expert testimony on issues including juveniles' competency to proceed. She has published and presented on various aspects of criminal forensic evaluations and treatment.
