OBITUARY

Thomas L. Boyer died Wednesday, August 17, at the age of 72.

Born April 26, 1950 to Leo and Marjorie Boyer, of Akron, OH, Boyer was their only child and attended St. Sebastian's and St. Vincent's, where he developed a love of sports. He especially excelled in youth bowling. He then went to the University of Notre Dame.

While attending the University of Notre Dame, he met Susan DePonio, whom he eventually married in August of 1973. Two years later he graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School.

Together, he and Susan moved to her home state of Michigan where he took a job with the Law Firm of Beer, Boltz, and Bennia. That firm changed names a number of times throughout the years, which he would eventually retire from the Kemp Klein Law Firm in 2021.

Boyer worked for Kemp Klein for 42 years and was well liked and respected among his colleagues. In his decades at Kemp Klein, Boyer became known for his expertise in Union, Labor, and Employment Law. Around the office, Boyer loved to discuss baseball and football, especially when it applied to his alma mater, Notre Dame. He enjoyed travel and golf and he possessed an unrivaled expertise in fine wines.

Boyer is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Susan, three children, Stephen, Catherine Gillespie (Doug), and Jennifer Greenfield (Bob), and three grandchildren, Norah, Daniel, and Eleanor.

A funeral mass took place August 26 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Birmingham. Memorial tributes to Capuchin Soup Kitchen are suggested.
