The Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI) is pleased to offer a webinar for judges assigned to a family division docket. The “Revocation of Paternity Act (ROPA) Refresher Webinar” will take place on Tuesday, November 1, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom.
What happens when the wrong man is the legal father and what needs to be done to undo parentage? Faculty for the “ROPA Refresher Webinar” will provide an overview of the four different actions outlined in the ROPA statute and address common challenges when a judge is facing a request to:
• Set aside an acknowledgment of parentage.
• Determine that a genetic father is not a child’s father.
• Set aside an order of filiation.
• Determine that a child with a presumed father is born out of wedlock.
To register for the webinar, family division judges should visit www.courts.michigan.gov/events.
