Attorney discusses 'Restricting Employees from Competition and Solicitation'

Maddin Hauser continues its 2022-2023 Breakfast Bites: Employment Law Series with "Restricting Employees from Competition and Solicitation: Considerations for Complying with and Seeking to Enforce Restrictive Provisions in Agreements," online Wednesday, November 30, from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

Presenting at the webinar will be Jordan B. Segal, an associate in the firm's Real Estate and Corporate and Employment Practice Groups. Prior to joining Maddin Hauser, Segal was the general counsel for a national real estate developer headquartered in Troy where he provided legal advice regarding all aspects of commercial real estate development including zoning, permitting, construction, acquisitions, sales, commercial leases, title review, entity formation, corporate maintenance, and project financing.

Segal has experience representing clients in a wide variety of business and employment matters, frequently drafting employee noncompetition, nonsolicitation, and nondisclosure agreements as well as architectural, engineering, and construction contracts. He also works with companies to protect valuable proprietary information by reviewing data security, privacy policies, and internal procedures. Additionally, he counsels startup businesses on corporate structuring and investor relations requirements.

An avid legal writer and speaker, Segal has been published frequently throughout his career in academic and business journals including Michigan Business Law Journal, Compliance Today, and Cooley Law Review. His articles and presentations include vital business legal insight on topics such as corporate data security, nondisclosure agreements, nonprofits, and cannabis law.

Segal is also active in the Business Law Section of the Michigan Bar Association, where he serves as chair of the In-House Counsel Committee. He is admitted to the bar in Michigan and Maryland.
