The Michigan Center for Civic Education is seeking attorney volunteers for the upcoming Michigan Mock Trial series. Participants can choose their preferred location and volunteer activity for the series of Mock Trial competitions set for Saturdays in February and March.
As part of Mock Trial competitions, students transform themselves into attorneys and witnesses to enact a complex case pattern in front of attorneys, judges, and mock trial experts. Mock Trial also offers an opportunity for students to demonstrate skills in courtroom illustration and artistry, along with courtroom reporting and journalism.
The series schedule includes both virtual and in-person events:
• Saturday, February 11, virtual only
• Saturday, February 18, Wayne and Washtenaw at Wayne
• Saturday, February 25, Oakland
• Saturday, March 4, Macomb
• Saturday, March 4, Ingham
• Saturday, March 11, Kent
• Saturday, March 18 State Finals, Lansing
The Michigan Center for Civic Education also offers a virtual orientation for new and returning volunteers. For additional information or to volunteer, visit https://miciviced.org/programs/mock-trial.
