Criminal Law Section conducts its 'Mid-Winter Conference' online, February 18

The Criminal Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan will conduct its "6th Annual Mid-Winter Conference" online Saturday, February 18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Wayne County Special Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Baughman opens the program with his year-end review of high impact criminal cases. First Assistant Attorney General John Pallas will follow with a presentation on expungements, and Assistant Federal Defender Daniel Dena will discuss new developments in firearms cases after the United States Supreme Court's decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen.

Following a short break, the program resumes with Assistant Attorney General Kelly A. Carter, who will provide an update on human trafficking laws. Attorney Steven Dulan, a nationally recognized firearms expert, will share his insights on gun rights restoration. Marla McCowan, deputy director & director of training for the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission, closes the program with a discussion on the recently approved standard covering attorney compensation (Standard 8.)
