Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido has created a pamphlet in conjunction with his campaign on “Knocking Violence out of My School” video competition.
The “Stopping Violence in Schools: What Parents and Students Need to Know” pamphlet is full of information including charges students could face if they threaten a school, consequences for juvenile crimes, and results of having juvenile criminal charges even without a conviction. It also gives students and parents information on how to report a threat, violence, weapons, or bullying in school, how to keep a school and peers safe, and resources parents can turn to if they need help with their child.
The Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center (JJC) is also featured with photos of the sleeping quarters and recreation room to show juveniles the living conditions in the JJC.
Lucido’s “Stopping Violence in Schools” initiative is geared towards students being the voice and bringing their message to their peers to stop threats, violence, weapons, and bullying in Macomb County Schools.
This pamphlet is available online at https://www.macombgov.org/sites/default/files/content/government/prosecutor/pjl_brch-schoolviolen ce-3.pdf.
In addition, videos are now being accepted for the “Knocking Violence Out of My School” video competition. Macomb County middle school and high school students can submit a video (less than 2 minutes) to dawn.fraylick@macombgov.org for a chance to win big cash prizes by February 17. First place is $1,000, second place is $750, and third place is $500.
