The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan will present the Traffic Safety Training Program webinar “Cannabinoids in Impaired Driving” on Wednesday, Mach 15, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.
The legalization and medicalization of cannabis in the United States continue to expand. With the prevalence of legal and illicit cannabis products, it is not surprising that there are almost 50 million marijuana users based on data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (SAMSHA, 2020).
This webinar will provide an overview of what is known and not known about newer cannabinoids such as delta-8 and delta-10-tetrahydrocannabinol and other cannabinoids encountered in impaired driving cases. An overview of the pharmacology of impairing cannabinoids will be reviewed as well as the challenges toxicologists face in their detection in biological samples.
Presenting at the webinar will be Sabra Jones, a board-certified Forensic Toxicologist with a focus on transportation safety. Jones is the regional toxicology liaison for the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s region 5, serving Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
There is no charge to attend this webinar, but attendees must register in advance. To register for the webinar, visit https://michiganprosecutor.org and click on “training.” After registering, attendees will receive a confirmation email from Zoom with instructions on how to join the webinar.
