Judge Roberts to be featured in forum on federal judiciary

U.S. District Court Judge Victoria A. Roberts, Eastern District of Michigan, will be the featured guest at a special Women’s History Month Forum presented by Wayne County Community Collage District Global Conversations Speaker Series, Division of Student Services.

“How Women Have Shaped the Federal Judiciary” will be presented Monday, March 20, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Curtis L. Ivery Downtown Campus, Frank Hayden Community Room 236, 1001 W. Fort Street in Detroit.  During the forum, journalist Bankole Thompson will discuss with Roberts the role, contribution, and influence of women on the federal bench.

Roberts was commissioned by President Bill Clinton on June 29, l998 to serve on the United States District Court,  Eastern District of Michigan. Prior to that, Roberts was in private practice and served as the managing partner of the Detroit law firm of Goodman, Eden, Millender & Bedrosian. She also served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan.  She will be retiring September 1 of this year.
