Oakland County Planning, Zoning, and Land Use will conduct a Virtual Planners Gathering on “Social Districts” Wednesday, April 26, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom.
The creation of Social Districts was authorized by the State of Michigan in 2020, as a response to the pandemic. Join us to learn how three Oakland County communities established their social districts and some of the lessons they learned along the way. Downtown leaders from Farmington, Lake Orion, and Ferndale will share their experiences with the approval process, starting the districts and their ongoing operational realities.
Speaking at the online gathering will be Farmington Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Kate Knight, Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Molly Lalone, and Ferndale Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Lena Stevens.

Anyone with questions should contact Jim Schafer at schaferj@oakgov.com or 248-285-2321.
