The IP Committee of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will present “It Came From Online ... Responding to Ransomware, Infringement, Defamation, and Other Internet Evils” on Thursday, May 11, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the offices of Warner Norcross & Judd, 2715 Woodward Ave, Suite 300, in Detroit.
This free lunch program will look at how to respond to ransomware, infringement, defamation, and other hot-button issues encountered on the internet. Local Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Corbett will share his knowledge and experience taking down the seemingly untouchable ransomware crooks, and give the step-by-step instructions attorneys need to know for guiding clients through those panic-inducing ransomware incidents. Attorney ÅBrian Wassom will review the other online headaches that clients face most often—such as copyright and trademark infringement, publicity rights issues, defamation, privacy concerns, even revenge porn, and will equip attendees with tools and strategies for tackling them.
To register for the free event, email bwassom@wnj.com so that the appropriate number of lunches can be ordered.
