Marko Law PLLC is pleased to announce that Jonathan R. Marko, firm founder and principal attorney, was selected to receive the Detroit Bar Association’s Section of the Year Award in appreciation for his outstanding leadership while serving as 2022-2023 chair of the Civil Rights Section.

Marko, who was also recently appointed to the Detroit Bar Association’s Board of Directors, was formally recognized at the organization’s 187th Annual Dinner hosted at the Detroit Golf Club on June 15.

“I am honored to receive this award. I’m truly passionate about civil rights causes and it has been humbling to serve the Civil Rights Section as chair among such esteemed colleagues,” Marko said. “It’s more important now than ever to fight for and protect people’s civil rights. But the viability of a civil rights claim is often less clear than the traditional case. My goal from the start has been to help the Detroit Bar clear the fog around civil rights issues.”

Marko and his team represent clients in a range of civil rights matters, personal injury suits, employment litigation, sexual assault and wrongful death cases, and more. He has numerous published appellate decisions and has been recognized by local and national news outlets for his work in the legal field. Most recently, Marko was recognized by The National Law Journal as a 2023 Plaintiffs Trailblazer and has been named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” for the past 11 years. He was also named one of the National Academy of Personal Injury Lawyers’ top ten personal injury attorneys in the state of Michigan.
