Late Wednesday, June 28, a Macomb County jury convicted Ronald McCrory III, a 21 year-old man from Clinton Township, on all charges after a two-day jury trial by Macomb County Assistant Prosecutor Jeffrey Hall.
On April 21, 2021, Ronald McCrory III carjacked a 2013 Dodge Journey in Mount Clemens. The victim of the carjacking was struck in the head with a firearm by a co-defendant and the victim ran off with the keys to the vehicle. McCrory located the victim and pointed his firearm at him and demanded the keys to the vehicle. The victim gave McCrory the keys and McCrory stole the vehicle.
McCrory was charged with carjacking (life felony), assault with a dangerous weapon (four year felony) and felony firearm (a mandatory two years in prison). McCrory will be sentenced in front of Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Faunce on Tuesday, August 15, at 8:30 a.m.
“This is another guilty jury verdict thanks to a dedicated assistant prosecutor which sends a clear message that we will not tolerate such acts of violence in our county. I commend the hard work and diligence of Assistant Prosecutor Jeffrey Hall as well as Macomb County Sheriff’s Department whose knowledge and skill were instrumental in securing this conviction,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
