Oakland County Commissioners Angela Powell (D-Pontiac) and Kristen Nelson (D-Waterford) are hosting a community conversation on Monday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crofoot in Pontiac to share information related to Oakland County's redevelopment plans for the Ottawa Towers and Phoenix Center parking garage, both located in downtown Pontiac.
"This project has the potential to bring a lot of opportunity to Pontiac," Powell said. "It's important that we share information directly with the residents and businesses that this would impact, and make sure they have the chance to hear from county officials."
The Oakland County Board of Commissioners recently approved the county's purchase of Ottawa Towers at 51111 Woodward Ave., the former General Motors Building at 31 E. Judson St., four adjacent parcels of land, and the current lease for the Phoenix Center parking garage. During the community conversation event, participants will hear from project leaders about the county's goals and have the chance to ask questions related to the project.
"Positive change can't happen without open and honest dialogue," Nelson said. "Incorporating the voices of residents, business owners and community leaders is essential to the success of this project."
The Crofoot is located at 1 S. Saginaw St. in Pontiac.
