Reimagining Courthouses group seeks input

The Justice for All Commission’s Reimagining Courthouses Work Group is seeking input on draft recommendations and guidelines designed to help provide 100% access to the civil justice system in Michigan.

Feedback is welcome from all court users, including attorneys. The Work Group examined barriers in trial court operations to develop the two draft documents now under review:

• Reimagining Our Courthouses Report and Recommendations: Includes 18 recommendations to partners in the civil justice system designed to promote a welcoming environment within the courthouse, provide easier access to records, and ensure access to language services.

• Welcoming Courthouses Guidelines: Provides a menu of strategies trial courts may voluntarily adopt to make their courthouses more welcoming to visitors and litigants.

Feedback can be shared either using the “give input” survey links online or by attending a virtual meeting from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, August 3, via Zoom. To submit feedback or register for the virtual meeting, visit www.courts.michigan.gov/administration/special-initiatives/jfa and click on “Reimagining Courthouses Work Group.” The deadline to submit comments is Friday, August 11.

Anyone with question may email JFAC@courts.mi.gov or call 517- 373- 4601.
