'Pitfalls of Electronically Stored Information' explored
The Association of Corporate Counsel, Michigan Chapter, will present a webinar on "Navigating the Pitfalls of Electronically Stored Information," sponsored by Zausmer PC, Wednesday, September 20, from noon to 1 p.m.
The virtual program will feature a panel discussion of in-house and outside counsel addressing best practices for managing electronically stored information (ESI) and handling the legal issues that arise from the same.
Topics to be covered include:
- Preparing for potential subpoenas or document requests that may implicate ESI to avoid costly and time-consuming legal battles
- Responding to requests for ESI once received and frequently encountered litigation issues
- Interfacing with business units regarding ESI
- Ethical issues related to the management, storage, and production of ESI
Presenting at the webinar will be Matthew Hetzner of ITC Holdings Corp and Zausmer shareholders Nathan Scherbarth and Devin Sullivan.
Hetzner is counsel, Capital Projects and Maintenance at ITC Holdings Corp., the largest independent electric transmission company in the United States. Hetzner advises and counsels ITC on various real estate and capital project matters in Michigan, including land use, substation siting, electric transmission line easement acquisition, and associated litigation.
Scherbarth is a shareholder and team leader of the Zausmer's Appellate group. He also practices in the firm's Business & Commercial, Construction, Employment, Eminent Domain, and Insurance Coverage practice groups.
Sullivan's practice focuses on energy law, commercial litigation, and eminent domain, representing utilities and government agencies in trial and appellate courts. Sullivan currently represents the State of Michigan with respect to the Gordie Howe International Bridge project, having defended the project against challenges presented in the Wayne County Circuit Court, Court of Claims, Court of Appeals, and Michigan Supreme Court, while assisting the state in acquiring the over 600 parcels needed to construct the project.
