In the wake of prominent faculty abuse scandals and school shootings, education institutions across the country continue to be in the spotlight. Further, the U.S. Supreme Court decision affecting affirmative action adds another layer of growing challenges in higher education.
Butzel invites attendees to a discussion of complex issues like these during a seminar from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, October 27, at the firm’s office located in the Columbia Center, 201 W. Big Beaver Rd. in Troy. The firm’s Education Industry co-chairs, Carey DeWitt and Lynn McGuire, are hosting the program.
DeWitt will moderate a panel discussion featuring special guests including:
• Brian Quinn: vice president for Legal Affairs and general counsel, Michigan State University: Campus Investigations
• Keith James: attorney, Keith James PLLC and Board of Trustees, member, Albion College: Crisis Management
• Mark Brucki: associate vice president of Economic Development, Lawrence Technological University: Innovative Pathways: Student Pipeline
• Mike Poterala: vice president and general counsel, Wayne State University: Advancing Science and Technology in the Face of Growing National Security Concerns on Campus
While there isn’t a fee to attend the program, seating is limited, and registration is required. To register, contact Tracie Tillinger at tillinger@butzel.com.
