Senators announce confirmation of Brandy R. McMillion as federal judge

U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters announced last week that the U.S. Senate has confirmed Brandy R. McMillion to be U.S. District Court judge for the Eastern District of Michigan.

McMillion was nominated by President Biden on June 28. On July 26, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing considering her nomination.

“Brandy McMillion’s confirmation is wonderful news for Michigan. She has been a thoughtful public servant throughout her time with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and I know she will continue her excellent work as U.S. District Court judge,” said Stabenow.

“Brandy McMillion is a committed public servant, whose dedication to defending justice and the rule of law will serve the people of Michigan well,” said Peters. “I was honored to help confirm her to the federal bench.”

McMillion has served as an assistant United States attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan since 2015. She has served as the chief of the office’s General Crimes Unit since 2022. Previously, McMillion was a senior litigation associate at Bryan Cave LLP from 2012 to 2015, an associate at Perkins Coie LLP from 2007 to 2012, and an associate at Pepper Hamilton LLP from 2006 to 2007.

McMillion received her law degree from George Washington University Law School in 2006 and her B.S.E. and her M.S.E. from the University of Michigan in 2001 and 2002.
