Adoption Day ...

Two Jackson area families had even more to be thankful for last week after completing adoption proceedings in Washtenaw County Circuit Court.
Jerry and Pam Barnett of Jackson chat with Washtenaw County Circuit Court Judge Donald Shelton in Ann Arbor after completing the adoption of Myles.
Myles, 12, is a seventh grader at Parkside in Jackson and was clearly excited to be joining his new parents.
Judge Shelton later addressed all the families in court for adoptions, some 14 in all. He stated that he and his wife had adopted two children themselves.
"They were important days in the lives of our two children when we adopted them and it was important to me too. It changed my life and sent me in a different direction," Shelton said.
"If there's one thing I've learned, it's that parenting is not about blood, it's about love."
Keith and Heather Jones of Manchester were all smiles during the finalization of their adoption of new son Tucker, six months.
