Judge OKs testimony of slain murder case witness
SOUTHFIELD (AP) -- A judge has admitted the testimony of a murder case witness who was killed the day he was subpoenaed.
Three men are charged in the Aug. 9, 2009, bludgeoning of 33-year-old Robert Alexander at a nightclub in Southfield.
Thirty-four-year-old Darnell Cooley and 20-year-old Deandre Woolfolk of Detroit and 38-year-old Eiland Johnson of Grand Rapids face second-degree murder charges.
The victim's 35-year-old brother Anthony Alls was shot Aug. 27 in Detroit.
Southfield District Judge Susan Moiseev says Cooley seems to have encouraged Alls' killing in a jailhouse conversation.
A detective testified Monday that Alls told him Cooley hit Alexander in the face. Moiseev will decide if there's enough evidence for a trial.
