The law firm of Miller Canfield announces that Shusheng Wang has joined the firm as co-director of International Business, expanding the firm's China and International Business Law practices. A native of China, he brings 13 years of experience in international business law helping Chinese companies expand to North America, particularly companies seeking to establish operations in automotive, engineering and R&D centers including Southeast Michigan. At Miller Canfield, Wang will focus his practice on global corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, dispute resolution, China business counseling, and U.S. taxation of international operations. Wang has advised on corporate structures, capital structures and exit strategies; developed networks for obtaining government approvals, business permits and licenses; developed and implemented global vehicle distribution component sales agreements; and advised on Internal Revenue Code Sections 351 and 367 cross-border stock transfers. He will reside in Miller Canfield's Troy office. He joins Miller Canfield from Butzel Long in Detroit where he practiced for three years. Previously he was a member of General Motors Corporation's legal staff. While at GM, he primarily handled legal matters related to GM's joint ventures in China, including Shanghai GM, Jinbei GM, Guangxi Wuling GM and Shandong Dongyue SGM. He was also responsible for GM's global transfer pricing strategies and implementation. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Tax Court. He is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Detroit Chinese Business Association. He is a frequent speaker at various seminars and conferences in the U.S., China, and Mexico. Pitts, a partner in the firm's Labor and Employment Department, has been appointed to the State Bar of Michigan's District H (Wayne, Monroe and Lenawee Counties) Character and Fitness Committee for a two-year renewable term. The committee is charged with investigating and determining whether applicants for admission to the Bar meet its character and fitness qualifications.
