Cooley Law School students "Join Hands for Haiti" on Feb. 22

Student organizations create Cooley Haiti Relief Fund, organize fundraising activities to support those suffering from devastating earthquake LANSING, MI--In response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti last month, several Thomas M. Cooley Law School student organizations have developed the "Thomas M. Cooley Law School Haiti Relief Fund" to create and promote avenues for students, faculty, staff and the community to support Haiti and Cooley's students, faculty and staff with ties to Haiti. As part of their efforts, Monday, Feb. 22 has been designated "Join Hands for Haiti Day" at all four of Cooley's campuses in Lansing, Auburn Hills, Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor with the following activities: * Buffalo Wild Wings and Cooley Law School "Join Hands for Haiti" Fundraiser Cooley's Student Bar Association has teamed with Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc. restaurants in Lansing (360 Albert St.), Wyoming (2720 44th St., for the Grand Rapids campus) and Ann Arbor (205 South State St.), which will donate 20 percent of food and beverage purchases made with a "Join Hands for Haiti" certificate. The certificate is available at http:// sba.tmc.cooley.edu. Cooley's Auburn Hills campus teamed with a local Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant for a similar fundraiser on Feb. 8. *Tie a Knot for Haiti The J. Reuben Clark Society at Cooley's Lansing campus will host "Tie a Knot for Haiti." From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., students can stop by the Cooley Center Lobby (300 S. Capitol Ave., Lansing) and help make quilts by simply tying one knot with a needle and yarn - or up to hundreds of knots - symbolizing how the small contributions of many people can make a big difference for the people of Haiti. The roughly 90-by-90-inch quilts, each of which requires approximately 200 knots, will be sent to Haiti where they will be used not only as blankets, but also as walls to create privacy, as knapsacks to carry belongings and as covers for dirt floors in tent houses.
