Changes announced for admission to Federal Court

United States District Court Eastern District of Michigan Notice of Important Changes to the Attorney Admission Process Effective March 1, 2010, an attorney seeking admission to practice in the Eastern District of Michigan will no longer be required to have a sponsor. An attorney applying for admission will, however, be required to provide the Court with a certificate of good standing from at least one other court where the attorney is admitted to practice. The certificate of good standing must be dated within 30 days before the date of the application for admission. To apply, please submit a completed application form, a certificate of a good standing, and a $200 application fee to the Clerk's Office. The application form is available on the Court's Web site at www.mied.uscourts.gov. Questions concerning the new attorney admission process should be directed to the Clerk's Office at 313-234-5044.
