Citizen's Alliance offers free seminar, April 13

On Tuesday, April 13, at the Troy Community Center in Troy, the Citizen's Alliance of the Oakland County Probate and Circuit Courts will conduct a free seminar for senior citizens and their families from 1 to 3 p.m. explaining the Probate Court's role in wills, estates, trusts, guardianships, and conservatorships. Entitled "Removing The Mysteries of Probate Court," the seminar will provide attendees with information on the advantages and disadvantages of "avoiding probate," when and how to use a will, trust and/or Power of Attorney, how to begin probate proceedings, and when to consider use of guardianships and conservatorships. Panelists will include Probate Register Jill Koney Daly from the Oakland County Probate Court; Sales Manager Wendy Linehan from Fifth Third Bank; and private practice attorney William Penner Jr. from the law firm of Butzel Long PC. Materials will be available on trusts, estates, and the legal rights of senior citizens. Adequate time will be available for questions. To register, contact the Troy Community Center at (248) 524-3484. Removing the Mysteries has been offered by the Oakland County Probate Court for nineteen years, with thousands of citizens participating. Plans are underway for the fall series.
