Cooley Seminar features Judges' practical tips for attorneys

About 50 young lawyers learned the ins and outs of what judges want in their courtroom during a special seminar at Cooley Law School recently,
Sponsored by Cooley and the Ingham County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, the "Do's and Don'ts Roundtable Seminar" featured a panel of eight Ingham County circuit and district court judges who volunteered a Saturday morning to share some practical advice with practicing attorneys.
The seminar included information on a host of criminal and civil law matters including district court bond arguments and preliminary exams, circuit court issues like motion practice and jury trials, mediation/arbitration, and family law issues.
Participating members of the bench included Judge Charles F. Felice, 54-A District Court; Judges Richard Ball and David Jordan, 54-B District Court; Judges Donald L. Allen and Thomas P. Boyd, 55th District Court; and Judges Laura Baird, Joyce Draganchuk, and James R. Giddings, 30th Circuit Court.
Board members for the Young Lawyers Section, which co-sponsored the event, are Brendon Basiga, Ross Bower, Pete Brown, Nicole Cowell, Nichole Derks, Melissa Keener, Dena Lampinen-Lorenz, Brian Lick, Shenique Moss, and Elan Stavros Nichols.
