SBM Pro Bono Initiative offers Free One-Day Workshop
The State Bar of Michigan's Pro Bono Initiative is hosting a one-day workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the State Bar's Michael Franck Building in downtown Lansing. The workshop, entitled ''Nurture the Power of Pro Bono,'' aims to build networks between different programs.
Non-profit directors, pro bono managers, coordinators, staff, and community members who work with pro bono cases are invited to the free event, which also includes lunch. Topics to be covered will include the recruitment and recognition of pro bono attorneys, rural pro bono practice, engaging law firms and the judiciary, and accessing law school pro bono resources.
Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly will be on hand to issue welcoming remarks, share some best practices in pro bono, and to discuss the Pro Bono Toolkit.
