Nancy's Letters: 'Thanks for the cookies! They're addictive!'

By Frank Weir
Legal News
Nancy Petoskey, a Court Services staffer, has received numerous "thank you's" for her latest package mailing to overseas troops.
She has organized gift package mailings for several years now and the latest featured an American classic: Girl Scout cookies.
She mailed 24 boxes, totaling 180 pounds, of various items (including the cookies) to armed services personnel in all the military branches on March 25.
Petoskey thanks everyone who donated items or money, or assisted her in putting the packages together, to make the mailing possible.
Here is a selection of responses from the recipients.
Nancy,
On behalf of all our troops, I'd like to thank you for the boxes you sent.
Your selflessness and generosity were deeply felt. We understand it took some time out of your day to do this. We appreciate your kindness.
By the way, those lime and chili soy beans were delicious. Our folks enjoyed a little of what Michigan has to offer.
Hope you had a wonderful Easter.
Very respectfully,

I just want to take this time I have here to thank each and every one of you. It's this type of support that literally gets us through the day.
The daily stress, lack of sleep, and separation from family and friends takes its toll.
But just knowing that we are supported and that you all are proud, keeps us going serving this country.
We're all here for a reason. No matter what the job, know that we are serving with 100 percent hear.
Thank you for your support.
Love, Morgan and the rest of my fellow soldiers, airmen, sailors, guardsmen.
I would like to say thank you to all of the employees of the Washtenaw County Court Services from all of the soldiers from Angel Company 3/187 Infantry.
I just received your two boxes filled with all the good stuff from home.
People like you really put a smile on the faces of the soldiers when we get care packages from home.
I took a box of the Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies out for myself and gave the rest of the goodies to the soldiers in my platoon. (I ate over half the box tonight already!)
I don't know what the Girl Scouts put in those cookies but they are addictive.
I'm not sure who gave you my address but thank you again for everything.
I hope you all had a Happy Easter.

Nancy,
On behalf of all the Marines here who benefit from your packages here, thank you. We appreciate it all.
The Girl Scout cookies last a couple hours max! We all miss home and the little comforts. Our days are pretty long and its getting warmer every day.
Knowing that there are so many supporters back home makes it easier being here.
Thank you for everything again.

Nancy,
Thank you for everything.
My platoon was very pleased to see the packages. It is good that there are great citizens that support the troops.
I hope that you enjoy the summer in the states and do give a service member a handshake. It really makes a difference and thank you again.
