Victorious in their inaugural year on the ice, The Aidenbaum Admirals took home the Supreme Cup - the ultimate prize in the Labatt's Hockey Detroit Lawyers League.
Guido Aidenbaum - an attorney with Aidenbaum, Schloff, and Bloom PLLC - is the team's founder and captain.
"From the very start of the season, we focused on playing to our strengths, committing to defense first, having fun and winning the Supreme Cup - and it worked," Aidenbaum says.
Including team Aidenbaum, the Lawyers League is comprised of six different teams. The other teams are Butzel Long, Miller Canfield, Honigman, and Clark Hills with lawyers hailing from those firms, joined by the Independent team comprised of various local lawyers.
In a best of three championship playoff, team Aidenbaum defeated the Clark Hill team 8-2 in the first game and 2-1 in the second and deciding game.
According to Robert Riley, law clerk to Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly, team Aidenbaum also won the regular season title with a 17-7-1 record.
"We have a great bunch of guys on the team," Aidenbaum beams. "We're friends on and off the ice. We benefited from a rare combination of high skill level and complete unselfishness, which made the season especially fun and rewarding.
"We're proud of what we were able to accomplish and we look forward to defending the cup next season."
