Three get jail sentences in cross burning case

PONTIAC (AP) -- An Oakland County judge has sentenced three white men to jail for burning a cross in the yard of a black family.
Authorities say on Aug. 13, 2009, the Independence Township men burned a cross near Edward and Sheri Green's home.
On Tuesday, Judge Shalina Kumar sentenced 20-year-old Joshua Willhite to 180 days in jail and three years' probation. Willhite pleaded no contest to conspiracy to commit ethnic intimidation.
Nineteen-year-old Travis Nesbitt pleaded no contest to ethnic intimidation and got 120 days in jail and three years' probation.
The same sentence went to 19-year-old Jonathan Waite, who pleaded guilty to the same charge. Kumar ordered them to perform 100 hours of community service each.
