Center provides insight to experienced mediators at training, Aug. 17

It has been nearly a decade since Michigan courts adopted new rules encouraging parties in conflict to consider mediation as an alternative to arbitration or litigation. The ten years since have sparked a combined interest in the practice of mediation and the mediator's role as a neutral facilitator. The Oakland Mediation Center (OMC) offers the "Resolutionary Road to Conflict Resolution," a one-day, advanced mediation workshop for those individuals who have previously completed a 40-hour SCAO Approved Mediator Training.
Participants will benefit from spending the day with esteemed mediators as they explore the stages of the mediation process. Using a highly interactive format, participants will engage in large group discussions and work together with peers to simulate components of the mediation process.
The training will be offerd Tuesday, August 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Oakland Mediation Center located at 550 Hulet Drive, Suite 102, in Bloomfield Hills. The cost of the training is $295 and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, snack, and course materials.
This workshop is for any trained mediator who seeks to enhance their existing skill set and/or for any mediator who needs to fulfill the circuit court mediator requirement of eight hours of advanced mediation training every two years.
This training will be delivered by Tracy L. Allen, an international professional mediator, arbitrator and ADR trainer. As a litigator and business tax attorney for many years, she now specializes in conflict management and resolution. Ms. Allen acts as a neutral service provider in other ADR areas such as conflict management systems design, meeting facilitator, early neutral evaluation, special master, and litigation support analyst. Allen's ADR practice is focused in national and international commercial and business disputes although she regularly conducts mediations and arbitrations involving securities, employment, health care law, real estate, family, and public policy matters.
"OMC's mission is to help the community peacefully resolve conflict through mediation and education," said Bonnie Hanes, OMC Executive Director. "This training offers an advanced approach for mediators looking to improve upon their technique."
For additional information about this training, contact Camelia Ureche, general manager at cureche@mediation-omc.org or (248) 338-4280, ext. 211.
