Enjoy panoramic views from Michilimackinac State Park

Take in the breathtaking view of the Straits of Mackinac and the Mackinac Bridge for free while picnicking at Michilimackinac State Park. This little known gem of Michigan, which celebrated its centennial birthday in 2009, offers beachfront strolls, swimming in Lake Huron, and a large, grassy park area with picnic tables at no charge.
Part of Mackinac State Historic Parks and administered by the Mackinac Island State Park Commission, Michigan's second state park is a picturesque pleaser for young children and adults alike. This free park is yet one more reason why families, even during these economically-challenging times, can afford to take vacations away from home while enjoying Michigan's scenic treasures, such as Michilimackinac State Park.
The free area of the park is located between Colonial Michilimackinac and Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, continuing along the Lake Huron shoreline past the lighthouse.
Mackinac State Historic Parks, a family of living history museums and parks in northern Michigan's Straits of Mackinac, is an agency within the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Visitor information is available at 231-436-4100 or on the web at www.MackinacParks.com.
