County encourages healthy eating, creates Family Market Day
Oakland County Commissioner Marcia Gershenson, the Oakland County Health Division, Oakland Schools, Oakland County Parks and Recreation, Oakland County Youth Assistance, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, Health Plus, Beaumont Hospital, Medical Network One, YMCA, the Baldwin Center, Michigan State University Extension, Dr. Paul Erhmann, Dr. Tomanello and Dietician Tonia Reinhardt of Wayne State University are part of the nutritionally focused Healthy Oakland Partnership.
The Healthy Oakland Partnership has created a first-ever Family Market Day at Oakland County's Farmers' Market in Waterford to promote eating fresh fruits, vegetables and physical activities for all. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is located at 2350 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford.
At this event, there will be many activities for the public to enjoy such as:
* Free activity courses and a bike adventure station.
* Free games and activities.
* Free yoga to stretch the body and mind.
* A chance to win prizes and giveaways.
