News (AP) - MSU student freed on bond in attack on Sen. Levin

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- Federal charges are possible against an anti-war protester accused of hitting Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin in the face with an apple pie during a Michigan constituent meeting. It happened Aug. 16 at the Michigan Democrat's appearance in Big Rapids, 150 miles northwest of Detroit. A Mecosta County judge lowered the bond Tuesday from $250,000 to $50,000 on a stalking charge against 22-year-old Ahlam Mohsen of Coldwater, and she left jail. The Detroit Free Press says the judge also put the case on hold while federal officials decide whether to bring a charge of assaulting a member of Congress. Defense lawyer Dennis DuVall says Mohsen looks forward to the start of her classes at Michigan State University. Published: Thu, Aug 26, 2010
