LRC annual fundraiser is Sept. 22

The Washtenaw County/EMU Legal Resource Center will hold its 6th Annual Fundraiser on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 6-8 p.m. at EMU's University House. Judge Donald Shelton will receive the LRC's Community Service Award and keynote remarks will be given by new EMU General Counsel Gloria Hage. The LRC, a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization, is a collaborative effort of EMU, Washtenaw County, the WCBA, the Washtenaw County Courts and Legal Services of South Central Michigan. Established in September 2004, the LRC clinic is staffed by EMU's paralegal students, under the supervision of program faculty attorneys. The LRC assists the court system by providing the correct civil court forms for family law, probate, landlord-tenant and small claims matters to community members who cannot afford an attorney. The county provides in-kind help, including the office space that houses the clinic in the Washtenaw County and 14B District Courthouses. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the WCBA at 994-4912. Published: Thu, Aug 26, 2010
