United Way concludes phone survey

Jackson County United Way is concluding a phone survey of area residents that began on Aug. 9. The survey was designed to help United Way better understand the community's thoughts and feelings about local issues and needs. The organization said that the survey gauged peoples' perceptions of local issues, priorities to be addressed, and awareness and perceptions of United Way. "By conducting this survey, we will be able to hear directly from our community members about the issues that are most important to them," said Ken Toll, executive director of the United Way of Jackson County. "We hope that residents will give us their thoughts and opinions, so we can better serve our friends and neighbors in need." Residents were randomly selected to participate in the survey that concludes Aug. 26. A total of 400 telephone surveys will be completed, in order to acquire a comprehensive cross-section of opinions. These results will help clarify community priorities and will guide the planning and future direction of United Way. The community phone survey is another step United Way is taking to gather community feedback and opinion, the agency said. Previous efforts include developing community report cards, convening town hall presentations and community-wide forums, performing email surveys, hosting leadership meetings, and conducting ongoing discussions with various stakeholders. All costs associated with the survey were underwritten by corporate sponsors, further maximizing the impact of donor contributions. The United Way of Jackson County is in its 75th year of serving the Jackson community. It supports nearly 50 different programs and initiatives. Published: Mon, Aug 23, 2010
