Women's Bar celebrates Patriot Week with tea party and screening

On July 13, 1848, in New York, a young stay at home mom, Elizabeth Caddy Stanton, was invited to tea with four women friends and the Women's Rights Movement was formed. On Tuesday, Sept. 14, the Women's Bar Association (Oakland County region of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan) will conduct a modern tea party and view Katja von Garnier's "Iron Jawed Angels" the remarkable and little-known story of a group of passionate and dynamic young women who put their lives on the line to fight for American women's right to vote. The event will take place at Goldfish Tea, 117 West 4th Street in Royal Oak, starting at 5:30 p.m. The film will begin at 6 p.m. There is no cost to attend. Tea and desserts will be provided. Sandwiches, soups and other snacks will be available for purchase. To register, contact Ryan Steele at Ryan@KellyKellyLaw.com or (248) 348-0496 by Friday, Sept. 10. Published: Fri, Sep 3, 2010
